      Elite Prospects Notes and Trivia

Simon Mourad, the captain for the 2022/23 season, is the founder of the EHVS Lakers ice hockey team at Linnaeus University in Växjö, established in 2021. He created the team to provide hockey enthusiasts among students with the opportunity to play together. In their inaugural year, they participated in a local league for fun, even reaching the final, where they lost 1-0 to Studio 101. With the assistance of Anton Johansson (assistant captain 22/23 and 23/24), Nils Fälth, Felix Jungåker, Gustav Jonsson, Robin Fogelberg, Filip Karlsson, and the EHVS student association, they aimed to join the national university hockey league, UHL. After some effort, they received approval and made their debut during the 2022-23 season. EHVS Lakers' first match was against KTH, resulting in a 6-0 loss on December 9, 2022. However, they scored their first goals against Uppsala Hockey thanks to Lukas Johansson and Hampus Karlsson on December 10, 2022. Anton Johansson, Nils Fälth, and Filip Karlsson scored in their first home match against Jönköping on February 12, 2023. Their first victory came against Chalmers, where they won 3-2 on March 18, 2023, breaking Chalmers' long winning streak in the league. Despite finishing last in their first UHL season, they continue to compete in the league, now known as SUHL (Swedish University Hockey League). EHVS Lakers remain a student team affiliated with the EHVS student association at Linnaeus University. The team always prioritizes having fun together, just as Simon Mourad envisioned when he founded the team.
