New Jersey Devils finally get their goalie, trade for Jake Allen

The New Jersey Devils finally made the goalie trade.

The Devils added Jake Allen in a trade with the Montréal Canadiens for a conditional third-round pick that could become a second rounder.

The Canadiens are also retaining 50 percent on the deal, meaning he will carry a cap hit of $1.9 million for the Devils.

Allen has been part of a three-goalie system in Montreal this season and is signed for next season. In 21 games with Montreal he has a 6-12-3 record with a .892 save percentage and a 3.65 goals against average on a struggling team.

For New Jersey, Allen was a necessary move after they failed to land Jacob Markström

It's part of a weird day for the Devils, who earlier in the day traded away their leading scorer Tyler Toffoli
