RIT poised to run away with Atlantic Hockey regular-season title

It's been a weird year in Atlantic Hockey.

Most of the teams that have been the best over the past few seasons have taken a step back – some, like AIC, did so slightly while others completely collapsed – and some recently middle-of-the-pack teams have seriously stepped up their games.

Ask most people in the conference this season and they'll all tell you the same thing: RIT is the No. 1 team in the conference this season, and the second-best team isn't particularly close.

The Tigers have just one regulation loss from their 16 league games, none since Oct. 20. The only other team in the AHA to beat them at all was Canisius, in overtime, back on Dec. 2.

In their league games, they have outscored opponents 56-30 (65.1 percent of goals) and outshot them 500-449 (52.6 percent of shots).
